ACMI

The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) is a cultural institution that explores the moving image in all its forms – film, television, art and digital culture. The program offer is multi-faceted and ranges from award-winning Australian and international exhibitions, films, festivals, live events, creative workshops, education programs and more.

The ACMI design team worked with Studio Round to update the visual identity to coincide with ACMI’s 10 year anniversary. The system developed was based around the idea of a frame of moving image. This frame can move from left to right or top to bottom across an underlying square grid, with frames repeated with a varying level of complexity. Used as a graphic device it creates a sense of movement and transformation as well as allowing for individual outputs to range from simple to quite complex depending on the content.
